I love drinks.
Mocktails. Cocktails. Sweet. Spicy. Tart. I’m always down for a sip.
But not every sip is made equal.
Drinks flavored with high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, and colors are not the kind of drinks I care to consume; not because I’m a snob, but because as someone who subsists on liquids all summer long, the toll of drinking these things adds up.
Soda on a road trip is one thing, but daily consumption of these types of drinks is not the way forward if you want to feel good.
As a Caribbean girl, I grew up with my grandparents making sea moss gel, and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve begun to see the value in this habit.
Sea moss gel is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. It supports immune function, promotes gut health, enhances skin appearance, and may even boost energy levels. Its high iodine content aids thyroid health, while its anti-inflammatory properties can help with joint and muscle recovery.
But, and there’s always a but, you must ensure moderate intake to avoid excessive iodine, which can affect thyroid function; and be sure to verify purity to avoid contaminants.
This sip is the sip of the summer! Supplying an abundance of benefits for your health, and on a hot summer day, an abundance of benefits for your spirit.
…and I won’t fault you for adding a shot of vodka, because…summer and…balance!
